Amanda Seyfried Stole Avril Lavigne’s Hair Straightener From 2002 and I Hope She Never Gives It Back

Today in the return of Y2K fashion, Amanda Seyfried was photographed attending the Museum of Modern Art Film Benefit for Chanel in New York City sporting a pin-straight hairstyle and heavy black eyeliner fit for the pop-punk princess of the early aughts. All she needs is a tie and maybe some Converse, and she’d be a dead ringer for Avril Lavigne in her “S8er Boi” era. And let me tell ya, it’s working for her.

Just like Lavigne, Seyfried’s blonde, flat-ironed hair is parted in the center to better show off the face-framing layers. That, plus the choice of pants rather than a skirt is giving Seyfried a low-grade punk vibe.

Seyfried did not wear a tie to the fancy benefit—instead she wore a two-piece black silk Chanel look. The top was a sleeveless, button-down tunic with a sheer, wide hem embellished with sparkly beads, worn over a pair of ankle-length, wide-leg trousers in the same black silk fabric. And yes, she is wearing Chanel boots, which feature a chunky heel adorned with the brand’s logo. Aside from the bright red lip, the only pop of color in Seyfried’s look was her purple beaded bag, and I need it in my closet immediately.
